Garden

The Old Lodge has very mature landscaped gardens close to the house, wisteria and roses are well established over the arched walkway leading from the gate to the front door,  climbing roses feature on trellises around the walls, beds are full of perennials, and a small orchard of apple, pear, plum and quince trees provides a decent crop of autumn fruit. To the rear of the house we have replenished fruit and vegetable cages with raspberries, gooseberries and asparagus.

A garden highlight is the magnolia tree which has a superb display of flowers in April and May.

The magnolia tree is on the edge of the garden, at the start of a meandering path through roadside woodland and next to lawns running down to the trout stream.

A narrow footbridge crosses the trout stream into the woodland where the paths leads to the boardwalk or to the woodland clearing to the west.
