Woods

Rowan trees have self seeded in an area on the southern edge of the woods, shown in August with their red berries. The path navigates over a natural drainage channel which in the wet months has a gentle trickle of water flowing to a ditch on the western boundary.

Our western boundary is with Manor Farm which grows vegetables here. The evening light penetrates well into the woods.

Foxgloves and grasses grow by the drainage channel running along the boundary.

From the rowan trees,  the woodland opens up a little  and a variety of flora has become well established, especially ferns.

Snowdrops appear throughout the woodland from January.

Primroses appear  in springtime at the woodland edge overlooking Manor Farm.

The path navigates to the clearing bordered by the trout stream and encircled by mature ash trees. The ash trees are suffering from ash die-back disease and will require  tree surgery as part of our woodland safety work.
